2024 Yom Kippur Holy Convocation + Fellowship (In-Person)
October 12, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Shalom, Cord family! We wanted to communicate some information about fasting on Yom Kippur and also some logistics regarding our gathering at the Rez. To begin with, we want to encourage each family to participate in fasting as they feel convicted without fear of ridicule. We graciously believe that those who are of Bar/Bat Mitzvah age and above should consider fasting, but younger kids are encouraged to participate in other ways; for example, fasting from sugar or sweets for the day or perhaps skipping breakfast, as an example. Each family can determine if and how each member in the home should apply the commandment to afflict themselves but of course, anyone who is nursing or physically ill should consider their health first and foremost.
Even on this solemn day, we can each find joy in seeking to practice God’s instructions as together we learn more about how to celebrate this sacred gathering of the Most High by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Just a reminder that we will not be gathering in person for the 11am service on Shabbat but will meet in the evening according to the following schedule:
- Arrival Time – 5:30pm – 5:45pm Setup – Food and assembly
- Holy Convocation (Public Scripture Reading from https://thecord.life/topic/kippurim/) 6:00pm – 6:15pm
- Prayer – 6:20pm – 6:30pm
- Meal & Fellowship – 6:30pm – 8pm
