שֹׁחַד sochad (H7810) is a gift presented to one in return for a favor. The Greek equivalent is δῶρον dōron (G1435) which means “a gift or present.”
שֹׁחַד sochad is opposed to נָתַן natan (H5414) which means to give a gift in the general sense. Interestingly, נָתַן natan is a palindrome; you can read it the same backward or forward which is why many within Judaism teach that when giving (natan), you are also receiving too.
