חֲלוֹם chalom (H2472) essentially means to gaze comes from a root word that means “to pass through”. חֲלוֹם chalom is equivalent to the Greek word ἐνύπνιον enypnion (en-oop’-nee-on) (G1798) and is from the words en + hypnos meaning “in sleep” as in “something seen or gazed upon in sleep.”
