טוֹב tov (H2896) means “functional” and can be literally translated as “to contain the house.” טוֹב tov is represented as something that functions properly (cf. Genesis 1:31; Genesis 2:18). טוֹב tov is equivalent to the Greek word καλός kalos (G2570) and means good, excellent in its nature and characteristics, and therefore well adapted to its ends; beautiful by reason of purity of heart and life, and hence praiseworthy.

“A dysfunctional family is a family that doesn’t function as expected, and is characterized by conflict, instability, and a lack of routine.”
