רָצוֹן ratson (H7522) is often translated as pleasure, delight, favour, goodwill, acceptance, or will and literally means “ones will or desires written on potsherds as messages to another.” רָצוֹן ratson comes from a root word which means “to crush a potsherd” in the sense that broken pieces of pottery were commonly used as writing tablets as they were inexpensive and durable (cf. Exodus 24:12; Exodus 31:18; Exodus 34:1; Exodus 34:4; Deuteronomy 4:13; Jeremiah 31:33). These potsherds were commonly used to send messages from one person to another, usually carried by messengers or “runners.”
