Often translates as for ever, perpetuity, or eternity εις τον αιώνα eis ton aióna (G1519 + G3588 + G165) is literally translated as “to the age” where the Greek word eon (G165) means an indefinite and very long period of time (cf. Luke 20:35). αιώνα aióna is equivalent to the Hebrew לְעֹלָם leolam (H5769) literally meaning “to a distant time”.
