The Hebrew phrase קָרַן עוֹר פָּנָיו (qaran or panaw) literally means “the skin of his face was horned.” Though most Bibles translate qaran (H7160) in Exodus 34 to figuratively mean “rays of light” came from his face or that his face “shone,” the Hebrew word קָרַן qaran and קֶ֣רֶן qeren are most always used literally to mean actual horns.
