Torah Portion (T)
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 15:7 – 16:12
15:1 At the end of every seven years, you will cancel debts. 2 This is the way it will be done: every creditor will release that which he has lent to his neighbor. [He will not require payment],(DSS) because YHWH’s release has been proclaimed. 3 Of a stranger you may require it; but whatever of yours is with your brother, your hand will release. 4 However there will be no needy with you, for YHWH will surely bless you in the land which YHWH your Elohim gives you for an inheritance to possess, 5 if only you diligently listen to YHWH your Elohim’s voice, to guard to do all this commandment which I command you today. 6 For YHWH your Elohim will bless you, as he promised you. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. You will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.
15:7 If a needy man, one of your brothers, is with you within any of your gates in your land which YHWH your Elohim gives you, you will not make your heart obstinate, nor shut your hand from your needy brother; 8 but you will surely open your hand to him, and will surely lend him sufficient for his need, which he lacks. 9 Beware that there not be a thought of Belial in your heart, saying, “The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,” and your eye be evil against your needy brother and you give him nothing; and he cry to YHWH against you, and it be sin to you. 10 You will surely give [and you are to lend him a loan whatever he needs, which he lacks],(LXX) and your heart will not be grieved when you give to him, because it is for this word YHWH your Elohim will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to. 11 For the needy will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command you to surely open your hand to your brother, to your afflicted, and to your needy, in your land. 12 If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you will let him go free from you. 13 When you let him go free from you, you will not let him go empty. 14 You will furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your wine press, as [the Lord](DSS) your Elohim has blessed you, you will give to him. 15 You will remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and YHWH your Elohim redeemed you. Therefore I command you [to do](DSS) this word today. 16 It will be, if he tells you, “I will not go out from you,” because he loves you and your house, because he is well with you, 17 then you will take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he will be your servant forever. Also to your maid you will do likewise. 18 It will not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for he has been double the value of a hired hand as he served you six years. YHWH your Elohim will bless you in all that you do. 19 You will dedicate all the firstborn males that are born of your herd and of your flock to YHWH your Elohim. You will do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. 20 You will eat it before YHWH your Elohim year by year in the place which YHWH will choose, you and your household. 21 If it has any defect—is lame or blind, or has any defect whatever, you will not slaughter it to YHWH your Elohim. 22 You will eat it within your gates. The unclean and the clean [among you](LXX) will eat it alike, as the gazelle and as the deer. 23 Only you will not eat its blood. You will pour it out on the ground like water.
16:1 Guard the new moon of Aviv, and do the Pesach to YHWH your Elohim; for in the new moon of Aviv, YHWH your Elohim brought you out of Egypt by night. 2 You will slaughter the Pesach to YHWH your Elohim, of the flock and the herd, in the place which YHWH will choose to cause his name to dwell there. 3 You will eat no leavened bread with it. You will eat unleavened bread with it seven days, even the bread of affliction, for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste, that you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life. 4 No leaven will be seen with you in all your borders seven days; neither will any of the meat, which you slaughter the first day at evening, remain all night until the morning. 5 You may not slaughter the Pesach within any of your gates which YHWH your Elohim gives you; 6 but at the place which YHWH your Elohim will choose to cause his name to dwell in, there you will slaughter the Pesach at evening, at the going down of the sun, at the appointed time that you came out of Egypt. 7 You will roast and eat it in the place which YHWH your Elohim chooses. In the morning you will return to your tents. 8 [For seven days, unleavened bread](DSS) you will eat,(DSS) and on the seventh day will be a closing assembly to YHWH your Elohim. You will not do [any](DSS) work [on it].(DSS) 9 You will count for yourselves seven weeks. From the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain you will begin to count seven weeks. 10 You will do the feast of weeks to YHWH your Elohim with a [gift](DSS) of [freewill offerings](DSS) of your hand, which you will give according to how YHWH your Elohim blesses you. 11 You will rejoice before YHWH your Elohim: you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your maid, the Levite who is within your gates, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, in the place which YHWH your Elohim will choose to cause his name to dwell there. 12 You will remember that you were a slave in [the land of](LXX) Egypt. You will guard and do these statutes.
Prophets Portion (P)
Isaiah 61:1-3
61:1 The Spirit of [the Lord](DSS)(LXX) YHWH is on me, because [he](LXX) has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and [recovering of sight to the blind]*,(DSS)(LXX) 2 to proclaim the year of the favor of YHWH and the day of vengeance of our Elohim, to comfort all who mourn, 3 to provide for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of YHWH, that he may be decorated.
*The Masoretic text reads, “release to those who are bound”, however, both the Septuagint (LXX) and Dead Sea Scrolls from 250 B.C. and earlier read, “recovery of sight to the blind,” and matches Luke’s quotation of this verse in Luke 4:18.
Apostolic Portion (A)
Colossians 3:1-25
3:1 If then you were raised together with Messiah, seek the things that are above, where Messiah is, seated on the right hand of Elohim. 2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the land. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Messiah in Elohim. 4 When Messiah, [your](mss) life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory. 5 Put to death therefore your members which are on the land: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 For these things’ sake the [wrath of Elohim comes].(mss) 7 You also once walked in those, when you lived in them, 8 but now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth. 9 Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, 10 and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator, 11 where there can’t be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, or free person; but Messiah is all, and in all. 12 Put on therefore, as Elohim’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as [the Lord](mss) forgave you, so you also do. 14 Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of [Messiah](mss) rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Messiah dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to [Elohim].(mss) 17 Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks to Elohim the Father through him. 18 Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them. 20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged. 22 Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing [the Lord].(mss) 23 And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Messiah. 25 But he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done, and there is no partiality.
Additional Portion (ADD)
Sirach, or Wisdom of Sirach, and also known as the Book of Ecclesiasticus (abbreviated Ecclus.) or Ben Sira, is a work of ethical teachings, from approximately 200 to 175 B.C., written by the Jewish scribe Ben Sira of Jerusalem, on the inspiration of his father Joshua son of Sirach, sometimes called Jesus son of Sirach or Yeshua ben Eliezer ben Sira. The Sirach was almost completely uncovered in Hebrew in the Dead Sea Scrolls, at Masada, and the Cairo Geniza. The multiplicity of manuscript fragments uncovered in the Cairo Genizah evidence its authoritative status among Egyptian Jewry until the Middle Ages. Quotes from Sirach can be found in Rabbinic literature in multiple places including the 4th Century Talmud in Bava Kamma 92b:13 and Hagigah 13a:2. Additionally, the Gospels and other Apostolic Scriptures quote from the Book of Sirach including the Song of Miriam in Luke 1:52 (cf. Sirach 10:14); the description of the seed in Mark 4:5, 16–17 (cf. Sirach 40:15); the statement by Yeshua in Matthew 7:16,20 (cf. Sirach 27:6); and Ya’aqov (James) 1:19 (cf. Sirach 5:11).
Sirach 29:1-28
29:1 He who shows mercy will lend to his neighbor; And he that strengthens him with his hand keeps the commandments. 2 Lend to your neighbor in time of his need; And pay you your neighbor again in due season. 3 Confirm your word, and keep faith with him; And at all seasons you will find what you need. 4 Many have reckoned a loan as a windfall, And have given trouble to those that helped them. 5 Till he has received, he will kiss a man’s hands; And for his neighbor’s money he will speak submissly: And when payment is due, he will prolong the time, And return words of heaviness, and complain of the season. 6 If he prevail, he will hardly receive the half; And he will count it as a windfall: If not, he has deprived him of his money, And he has gotten him for an enemy without cause: He will pay him with cursing and railing; And for honor he will pay him disgrace. 7 Many therefore on account of men’s ill-dealing have turned away; They have feared to be defrauded for nothing. 8 However with a man in poor estate be patient; And let him not wait for your alms. 9 Help a poor man for the commandment’s sake; And according to his need send him not empty away. 10 Lose your money for a brother and a friend; And let it not rust under the stone to be lost. 11 Bestow your treasure according to the commandments of the Most High; And it will profit you more than gold. 12 Shut up alms in your store-chambers; And it will deliver you out of all affliction: 13 It will fight for you against your enemy Better than a mighty shield and a ponderous spear. 14 A good man will be surety for his neighbor; And he that has lost shame will fail him. 15 Forget not the good offices of your surety; For he has given his life for you. 16 A sinner will overthrow the good estate of his surety; 17 And he that is of an unthankful mind will fail him that delivered him. 18 Suretiship has undone many that were prospering, And shaken them as a wave of the sea: Mighty men has it driven from their homes; And they wandered among strange nations. 19 A sinner that falls into suretiship, And undertakes contracts for work, will fall into lawsuits. 20 Help your neighbor according to your power, And take heed to yourself that you fall not the same way. 21 The chief thing for life is water, and bread, And a garment, and a house to cover shame. 22 Better is the life of a poor man under a shelter of logs, Than sumptuous fare in another man’s house. 23 With little or with much, be well satisfied. [… …] 24 It is a miserable life to go from house to house: And where you are a sojourner, you will not dare to open your mouth. 25 You will entertain, and give to drink, and have no thanks: And in addition to this you will hear bitter words. 26 Come here, you sojourner, furnish a table, And if you have anything in your hand, feed me with it. 27 Go forth, you sojourner, from the face of honor; My brother is come to be my guest; I have need of my house. 28 These things are grievous to a man of understanding; The upbraiding of house-room, and the reproaching of the money-lender.

Exodus 21:1-11 (T)
21:1 “Now these are the judgments which you will set before them: 2 “If you acquire a Hebrew servant, he will serve six years, and in the seventh he will go out free without [paying] anything. 3 If he comes in by himself, he will go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife will go out with him. 4 If his master gives him a woman and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children will be her master’s, and he will go out by himself. 5 But if the servant will plainly say, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’ 6 then his master will bring him to Elohim, and will bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master will bore his ear through with an awl, and he will serve him [to the age].(LXX) 7 “If a man sells his daughter to be a maid, she will not go out as the male servants do. 8 If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he will let her be redeemed. He will have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her. 9 If he marries her to his son, he will deal with her as a daughter. 10 If he takes another, he will not diminish her [remains], her clothing, and her habitation. 11 If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.
Jeremiah 34:8-22 (T)
34:8 The word came to Jeremiah from YHWH, after king Zedekiah had cut a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty to them, 9 that every man should let his male servant, and every man his maid, who is a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free, that no one should make bondservants of them, of a Jew his brother. 10 All the princes and all the people obeyed who had entered into the covenant, that everyone should let his male servant and everyone his maid go free, that no one should make bondservants of them any more. They obeyed and let them go, 11 but afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids whom they had let go free to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids. 12 Therefore the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah from YHWH, saying, 13 “YHWH, the Elohim of Israel, says: ‘I cut a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying: 14 At the end of seven years, every man of you will release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You will let him go free from you. But your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear. 15 You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had cut a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name; 16 but you turned and profaned my name, and every man caused his servant and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return. You brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids.’ ” 17 Therefore YHWH says: “You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says YHWH, “to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the reigns of the land. 18 I will give the men who have transgressed my covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts: 19 the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land, who passed between the parts of the calf. 20 I will even give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the heavens and for the animals of the land. 21 “I will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes into the hands of their enemies, into the hands of those who seek their life and into the hands of the king of Babylon’s army, who has gone away from you. 22 Behold, I will command,” says YHWH, “and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it, take it, and burn it with fire. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”
Deuteronomy 28:12-15 (T)
28:12 YHWH will open to you his good treasure in the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. 13 YHWH will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of YHWH your Elohim which I command you today, to guard and to do, 14 and will not turn away from any of the words which I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other elohim to serve them. 15 But it will come to pass, if you will not listen to YHWH your Elohim’s voice, to guard to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come on you and overtake you.
Ezekiel 18:5-13 (T)
18:5 “But if a man is righteous, and does judgment and righteousness, 6 and has not eaten on the mountains, hasn’t lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hasn’t defiled his neighbor’s wife, hasn’t come near a woman in her separation, 7 and has not suppressed any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has taken nothing by robbery, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment; 8 he who hasn’t lent to them with interest, hasn’t taken any increase from them, who has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man, 9 has walked in my statutes, and has guarded my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he will surely live,” says the Lord YHWH. 10 “If he fathers a son who is a robber who sheds blood, and who does any one of these things, 11 or who does not do any of those things but has eaten at the mountain shrines and defiled his neighbor’s wife, 12 has suppressed the afflicted and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination, 13 has lent with interest, and has taken increase, will he then live? He will not live. He has done all these abominations. He will surely die. His blood will be on him.
Proverbs 28:27 (T)
28:27 One who gives to the [one who hangs down his head and is in need] has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
Matthew 5:42-48; Luke 6:30-36 (T)
Matthew 5:42 Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you. 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You will love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father who is in the heavens. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? 48 Therefore you will be perfect, just as your Father in the heavens is perfect.”
Luke 6:30 Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again. 31 “As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them. 32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. 36 “Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.
Romans 12:4-21 (T)
12:4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Messiah, and individually members of one another, 6 having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us: if prophecy, let’s prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; 7 or service, let’s give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; 8 or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. 10 In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another, 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord, 12 rejoicing in hope, enduring in troubles, continuing steadfastly in prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the holy ones, and given to hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. 19 Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to Elohim’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.” (cf. Deuteronomy 32:35) 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.” (cf. Proverbs 25:21-22) 21 Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
2 Corinthians 9:1-15 (T)
9:1 It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the holy ones, 2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to those of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for the past year. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them. 3 But I have sent the brothers so that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared, 4 lest by any means, if anyone from Macedonia comes there with me and finds you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) would be disappointed in this confident boasting. 5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness. 6 Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for Elohim loves a cheerful giver. 8 And Elohim is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work. 9 As it is written, “He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.” (cf. Psalms 112:9) 10 Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 you being enriched in everything for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to Elohim through us. 12 For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the holy ones, but abounds also through much giving of thanks to Elohim, 13 seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify Elohim for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Messiah and for the generosity of your contribution to them and to all, 14 while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of Elohim in you. 15 Now thanks be to Elohim for his unspeakable gift!
1 John 3:10-24 (T)
3:10 In this the children of Elohim are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn’t do righteousness is not of Elohim, neither is he who doesn’t love his brother. 11 For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another— 12 unlike Cain, who was of the evil one and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s righteous. 13 Don’t be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn’t love his brother remains in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. 16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does Elohim’s love remain in him? 18 My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth and persuade our hearts before him, 20 because if our heart condemns us, Elohim is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward Elohim; 22 so whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Yeshua the Messiah, and love one another, even as he commanded. 24 He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.
Ya’aqov (James) 2:1-20 (T)
2:1 My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our glorious Lord Yeshua the Messiah with partiality. 2 For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in, 3 and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing and say, “Sit here in a good place;” and you tell the poor man, “Stand there,” or “Sit by my footstool” 4 haven’t you shown discrimination among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t Elohim choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Reign which he promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Don’t the rich oppress you and personally drag you before the courts? 7 Don’t they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? 8 However, if you fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You will love your neighbor as yourself,” (cf. Leviticus 19:18) you do well. 9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” (cf. Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18) also said, “Do not commit murder.” (cf. Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17) Now if you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so do as men who are to be judged by the law of freedom. 13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. 13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. 14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? 15 And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, 16 and one of you tells them, “Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. 18 Yes, a man will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that Elohim is one. You do well. The demons also believe—and shudder. 20 But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead?
Matthew 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9; John 12:1-8 (T)
Matthew 26:6 Now when Yeshua was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table. 8 But when his disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9 For this ointment might have been sold for much and given to the poor.” 10 However, knowing this, Yeshua said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? She has done a good work for me. 11 For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me. 12 For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13 Amen, amen, I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this wife has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her.”
Mark 14:3 While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard—very costly. She broke the jar and poured it over his head. 4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, “Why has this ointment been wasted? 5 For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” So they grumbled against her. 6 But Yeshua said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me. 7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me. 8 She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying. 9 Amen, amen, I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this wife has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her.”
John 12:1 Then, six days before the Pesach, Yeshua came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2 So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him. 3 Therefore Miriam took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Yeshua’ss feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. 4 Then Judah Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said, 5 “Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii† and given to the poor?” 6 Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it. 7 But Yeshua said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial. 8 For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”
Leviticus 25:39-55 (T)
25:39 If your brother becomes low with you, and will be sold to you, you will not make him to serve [as service of a house-servant].(LXX) 40 As a hired-servant, and as a settler, he will be with you; he will serve with you until the Year of Yovel. 41 Then he will go out from you, he and his sons with him, and will return to his own family, and to the possession of his fathers. 42 For they are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. They will not be sold [in a sale of a house-servant].(LXX) 43 You will not [oppress him with labor],(LXX) but will fear your Elohim. 44 As for your servant and your maid, whom will be to you from the nations that are around you, from them you may buy servants and maids. 45 Moreover, of the sons of the sojourning settlers among you, of them you may buy, and of their families who are with you, which they bear in your land; and they will be your possession. 46 You may [divide them to](DSS, LXX) your sons after you, to inherit for a possession. Of them you may take your servants [to the age],(LXX) but over your brothers the sons of Israel [one will not oppress his brother with labors].(LXX) 47 If the hand of a sojourner or settler with you will attain, and your brother with him becomes low and will be sold to the sojourner settling with you, or to a member of the sojourners family, 48 after he is sold he may be redeemed. One of his brothers may redeem him; 49 or his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or from a near kin of his flesh from his family may redeem him; or if his hand attains, he may redeem himself. 50 He will reckon with him who bought him from the year of his being sold to him to the Year of Yovel. The price of his sale will be according to the number of years; he will be with him according to the days of a hired-servant. 51 If there are yet many years, according to them he will give back the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for. 52 If there remain but a few years to the Year of Yovel, then he will reckon with him; according to his years he will give back the price of his redemption. 53 As a hired-servant year by year will he be with him. He will not [oppress him with labor](LXX) in your sight. 54 If he isn’t redeemed by these means, then he will be released in the Year of Yovel: he and his sons with him. 55 For to me the sons of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I am YHWH your Elohim.
Exodus 13:1-2; Exodus 22:29-30; Exodus 34:19-20; Leviticus 27:26-27; Numbers 3:11-13 (T)
Exodus 13:1 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Set apart to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and of animal. It is mine.”
Exodus 22:29 Do not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. You will give the firstborn of your sons to me. 30 You will do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. It will be with its mother seven days, then on the eighth day you will give it to me.
Exodus 34:19 All that opens the womb is mine; and all your livestock that is male, the firstborn of cow and sheep. 20 You will redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb. If you will not redeem it, then you will break its neck. You will redeem all the firstborn of your sons. No one will appear before me empty.
Leviticus 27:26 However the firstborn among animals, which belongs to YHWH as a firstborn, no man may set apart, whether an ox or a sheep. It is YHWH’s. 27 If it is an unclean animal, then he will buy it back according to your valuation, and will add to it the fifth part of it; or if it isn’t redeemed, then it will be sold according to your valuation.
Numbers 3:11 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel instead of all the firstborn who open the womb among the sons of Israel; and the Levites will be mine, 13 for all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I made holy to me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and animal. They will be mine. I am YHWH.”
Leviticus 22:17-24; Deuteronomy 17:1 (T)
Leviticus 22:17 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them, ‘Whoever is of the house of Israel, or of the foreigners [sojourning](DSS) in Israel, who brings his offering, whether it is any of their vows or their freewill offerings, which they bring to YHWH for a burnt offering: 19 that you may be accepted, you will offer a male, a perfect one, of the bulls, of the sheep, or of the goats. 20 But you will not bring whatever has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable for you. 21 When a man brings a slaughter of peace offerings to YHWH to accomplish a vow, or in the way of a freewill offering of the herd or of the flock, it will be a perfect one to be accepted. It will have no blemish. 22 You will not bring what is blind, is cracked, is cut sharply, has an ulcer, an irritation, or has a skin sore to YHWH, nor give an offering by fire of them on the altar to YHWH. 23 Either a bull or a lamb that has any deformity or lacking in his parts, that you may offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it will not be accepted. 24 You must not offer to YHWH that which is pressed firmly, smashed, drawn away, or cut. You must not do this in your land.
Deuteronomy 17:1 You will not slaughter to YHWH your Elohim an ox or a sheep in which is a defect or anything evil; for that is an abomination to YHWH your Elohim.
Deuteronomy 12:1-27 (T)
12:1 [And](DSS) These are the statutes and the judgments which you will guard to do in the land which YHWH, the Elohim of your fathers, has given you to possess all the days that you live on the land. 2 You will surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you will dispossess served their elohim: on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree. 3 You will break down their altars, dash their pillars in pieces, and burn their Asherah poles with fire. You will cut down the engraved images of their elohim. You will destroy their name out of that place. 4 You will not do so to YHWH your Elohim. 5 But to the place which YHWH your Elohim will choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, you will seek his habitation, and you will come there. 6 You will bring your burnt offerings, your slaughters, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, your vows, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock there. 7 There you will eat before YHWH your Elohim, and you will rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your houses, in which YHWH your Elohim has blessed you. 8 You will not do all the things that we do here today, every man whatever is right in his own eyes; 9 for you haven’t yet come to the rest and to the inheritance which YHWH your Elohim gives you. 10 But when you go over the Jordan and dwell in the land which YHWH your Elohim causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety, 11 then it will happen that to the place which YHWH your Elohim will choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you will bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your slaughters, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to [your Elohim].(LXX) 12 You will rejoice before YHWH your Elohim—you, and your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your maids, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you. 13 Be careful that you don’t offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see; 14 but in the place which YHWH chooses in one of your tribes, there you will offer your burnt offerings, and there you will do all that I command you. 15 Yet you may kill and eat meat within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to YHWH your Elohim’s blessing which he has given you. The unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle and the deer. 16 Only you will not eat the blood. You will pour it out on the land like water. 17 You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand; 18 but you will eat them before YHWH your Elohim in the place which YHWH your Elohim will choose: you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your maid, and the Levite who is within your gates. You will rejoice before YHWH your Elohim in all that you put your hand to. 19 Be careful that you don’t forsake the Levite as long as you live in [the](DSS) land. 20 When YHWH your Elohim enlarges your border, as he has promised you, and you say, “I want to eat flesh,” because your soul desires to eat flesh, you may eat flesh, after all the desire of your soul. 21 If the place which YHWH your Elohim will choose to put his name is too far from you, then you will kill of your herd and of your flock, which [Elohim](LXX) has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul. 22 Even as the gazelle and as the deer is eaten, so you will eat of it. The unclean and the clean may eat of it alike. 23 Only be sure that you don’t eat the blood; for the blood is the life. You will not eat the life with the flesh. 24 You will not eat it. You will pour it out on the land like water. 25 You will not eat it, that it may go well with you and with your sons after you, when you do that which is right in the eyes of YHWH. 26 Only your holy which you have, and your vows, you will take and go to the place which YHWH will choose. 27 You will offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on YHWH your Elohim’s altar. The blood of your slaughters will be poured out on YHWH your Elohim’s altar, and you will eat the flesh.

Exodus 12:1 YHWH spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “This new moon will be to you the beginning of new moons. It will be the first new moon of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this new moon, they will take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household; 4 and if the household is too little for a lamb, then he and his neighbor next to his house will take one according to the number of the souls. You will make your count for the lamb according to what everyone can eat. 5 Your lamb will be without defect, a male a year old. You will take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6 You will keep it until the fourteenth day of the new moon; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel will kill it at evening. 7 They will take some of the blood, and put it on the two door posts and on the lintel, on the houses in which they will eat it. 8 They will eat the meat in that night, roasted with fire, with unleavened bread. They will eat it with bitter herbs. 9 Don’t eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire; with its head, its legs and its inner parts. 10 You will let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that which remains of it until the morning you will burn with fire. 11 This is how you will eat it: with your belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you will eat it in haste: it is the Pesach of YHWH. 12 For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and animal. I will execute judgments against all the Elohim of Egypt. I am YHWH. 13 The blood will be to you for a sign on the houses where you are. When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. 14 This day will be a memorial for you. You will hold a feast to YHWH. You will hold a feast throughout your generations by a statute forever. 15 Seven days you will eat unleavened bread; even the first day you will put away leaven out of your houses, for whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul will be cut off from Israel. 16 In the first day there will be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no kind of work will be done in them, except that which every man must eat, only that may be done by you. 17 You will guard the feast of unleavened bread; for [in the bone of this day] I have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you will guard this day throughout your generations by a statute forever. 18 In the first new moon, on the fourteenth day of the new moon at evening, you will eat unleavened bread, until the twenty first day of the new moon at evening. 19 There will be no leaven found in your houses for seven days, for whoever eats that which is leavened, that soul will be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger, or one who is born in the land. 20 You will eat nothing leavened. In all your habitations you will eat unleavened bread.’ ”
Leviticus 23:4 These are the appointed times of YHWH, holy convocations, which you will proclaim in their appointed times. 5 In the first new moon, on the fourteenth day of the new moon in the evening, is the Pesach of YHWH. 6 On the fifteenth day of the new moon is the festival of unleavened bread to YHWH. Seven days you will eat unleavened bread. 7 In the first day you will have a holy convocation. You will do no work of service. 8 But you will offer an offering made by fire to YHWH seven days. In the seventh day is a holy convocation. You will do no work of service.
Numbers 9:1-14 YHWH spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first new moon of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “Let the sons of Israel do the Pesach in its appointed time. 3 On the fourteenth day of this new moon, at evening, you will do it in its appointed time. You will do it according to all its statutes and according to all its judgments.” 4 Moses told the sons of Israel that they should do the Pesach. 5 They did the Pesach in the first new moon, on the fourteenth day of the new moon at evening, in the wilderness of Sinai. According to all that YHWH commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel did. 6 There were certain men who were unclean because of the soul of a man, so that they could not do the Pesach on that day, and they came before Moses and Aaron on that day. 7 Those men said to him, “We are unclean because of the soul of a man. Why are we kept back, that we may not offer the offering of YHWH in its appointed time among the sons of Israel?” 8 Moses answered them, “Wait, that I may hear what YHWH will command concerning you.” 9 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Say to the sons of Israel, ‘If any man of you or of your generations is unclean by reason of a soul, or is on a journey far away, he will still do the Pesach to YHWH. 11 In the second new moon, on the fourteenth day at evening they will do it; they will eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12 They will leave none of it until the morning, nor break a bone of it. According to all the statute of the Pesach they will do it. 13 But the man who is clean, and is not on a journey, and fails to do the Pesach, that soul will be cut off from his people. Because he didn’t offer the offering of YHWH in its appointed time, that man will bear his sin. 14 If a foreigner lives among you and desires to do the Pesach to YHWH, then he will do so according to the statute of the Pesach, and according to its statute. You will have one statute, both for the foreigner and for him who is born in the land.’ ”
Numbers 28:16-25 In the first new moon, on the fourteenth day of the new moon, is the Pesach of YHWH. 17 On the fifteenth day of this new moon will be a festival. Unleavened bread will be eaten for seven days. 18 In the first day will be a holy convocation. You will do no work of service, 19 but you will bring an offering made by fire, a burnt offering to YHWH: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. They will be perfect ones, 20 with their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil. You will do three tenths for a bull, and two tenths for the ram. 21 You will do one tenth for every lamb of the seven lambs; 22 and one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you. 23 You will do these in addition to the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering. 24 Like these you will do daily, for seven days, the bread of the offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to YHWH. It will be offered in addition to the continual burnt offering and its libation offering. 25 On the seventh day you will have a holy convocation. You will do no work of service.
2 Kings 23:21 The king commanded all the people, saying, “Keep the Pesach to YHWH your Elohim, as it is written in this book of the covenant.” 22 Surely there was not kept such a Pesach from the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah; 23 but in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Pesach was kept to YHWH in Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 45:21 In the first new moon, on the fourteenth day of the new moon, you will have the Pesach, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread will be eaten. 22 On that day the lifted up one will prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bull for a sin offering. 23 The seven days of the feast he will prepare a burnt offering to YHWH, seven bulls and seven rams without defect daily the seven days; and a male goat daily for a sin offering. 24 He will prepare a grain offering, an ephah for a bull, an ephah for a ram, and a hin of oil to an ephah.
Ezra 6:19 The sons of the captivity did the Pesach on the fourteenth day of the first new moon. 20 Because the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together, all of them were pure. They killed the Pesach for all the sons of the captivity, for their brothers the priests, and for themselves. 21 The sons of Israel who had returned out of the captivity, and all who had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the nations of the land to seek YHWH, the Elohim of Israel, ate, 22 and did the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy; because YHWH had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of Elohim, the Elohim of Israel’s house.
Exodus 34:18 (T)
34:18 “You will guard the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the new moon Aviv; for in the new moon Aviv you came out of Egypt.
Luke 2:40-52 (T)
2:40 The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of Elohim was upon him. 41 His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Pesach. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast; 43 and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Yeshua stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 When they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.” 49 He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52 And Yeshua increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with Elohim and men.
Matthew 26:1-20; Mark 14:1-17; Luke 22:1-16; John 13:1-4 (T)
Matthew 26:1 When Yeshua had finished all these words, he said to his disciples, 2 “You know that after two days the Pesach is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.” 3 Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas. 4 They took counsel together that they might take Yeshua by deceit and kill him. 5 But they said, “Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people.” 6 Now when Yeshua was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table. 13 Amen, amen, I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this wife has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her.” 14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judah Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?” So they weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From that time he sought opportunity to betray him. 17 Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Yeshua, saying to him, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Pesach?” 18 He said, “Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, ‘The Rabbi says, “My time is at hand. I will guard the Pesach at your house with my disciples.” ‘ ” 19 The disciples did as Yeshua commanded them, and they prepared the Pesach. 20 Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 As they were eating, he said, “Amen, amen, I tell you that one of you will betray me.”
Mark 14:1 It was now two days before the Pesach and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception and kill him. 2 For they said, “Not during the feast, because there might be a riot among the people.” 3 While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard—very costly. 9 Amen, amen, I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this wife has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her.” 10 Judah Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him to them. 11 They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him. 12 On the first day of unleavened bread, when they slaughtered the Pesach, his disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare that you may eat the Pesach?” 13 He sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and there a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him, 14 and wherever he enters in, tell the owner of the house, ‘The Rabbi says, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Pesach with my disciples?” ‘ 15 He will himself show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Get ready for us there.” 16 His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found things as he had said to them, and they prepared the Pesach. 17 When it was evening he came with the twelve. 18 As they sat and were eating, Yeshua said, “Amen, amen, I tell you, one of you will betray me—he who eats with me.”
Luke 22:1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Pesach, was approaching. 2 The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people. 3 Satan entered into Judah, who was also called Iscariot, who was counted with the twelve. 4 He went away and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them. 5 They were glad, and agreed to give him money. 6 He consented and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude. 7 The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Pesach must be slaughtered. 8 Yeshua sent Peter and Yochanan, saying, “Go and prepare the Pesach for us, that we may eat.” 9 They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?” 10 He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters. 11 Tell the owner of the house, ‘The Rabbi says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Pesach with my disciples?” ‘ 12 He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.” 13 They went, found things as Yeshua had told them, and they prepared the Pesach. 14 When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve emissaries. 15 He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Pesach with you before I suffer, 16 for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the reign of Elohim.”
John 13:1 Now before the feast of the Pesach, Yeshua, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judah Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him, 3 Yeshua, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from Elohim and was going to Elohim, 4 arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel and wrapped a towel around his waist.
Acts 12:1-4; (T)
12:1 Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly. 2 He killed Jacob, the brother of John, with the sword. 3 When he saw that it pleased the Judeans, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread. 4 When he had arrested him, he put him in prison and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Pesach.
1 Corinthians 5:1-8 (T)
5:1 It is actually reported that there is whoring among you, and such whoring as is not even named among the Nations, that one has his father’s wife. 2 You are arrogant, and didn’t mourn instead, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you. 3 For I most certainly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing. 4 In the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, when you are gathered together with my spirit with the power of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, 5 you are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Yeshua. 6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Messiah, our Pesach, has been slaughtered in our place. 8 Therefore let’s guard the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Hebrews 11:28 (T)
11:28 In faith he kept the Pesach and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.
Exodus 23:14-17 (T)
23:14 “You will observe a feast to me three times a year. 15 You will guard the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the new moon Aviv, for in it you came out of Egypt, and no one will appear before me empty. 16 And the feast of harvest, the first fruits of your labors, which you sow in the field; and the feast of ingathering, at the end of the year, when you gather in your labors out of the field. 17 Three times in the year all your males will appear before the Lord YHWH.
Leviticus 23:9-22 (T)
23:9 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you have come into the land which I give to you, and will reap its harvest, then you will bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 He will wave the sheaf before YHWH, to be accepted for you. On the next day after the Sabbath the priest will wave it. 12 On the day when you wave the sheaf, you will offer a male lamb, a perfect one, a year old for a burnt offering to YHWH. 13 The grain offering with it will be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to YHWH for a pleasant aroma; and the libation offering with it will be of wine, the fourth part of a hin. 14 You must not eat bread, roasted grain, or fresh grain, until the [bone of this day], until you have brought the offering of your Elohim. This is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 15 You will count from the next day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths will be completed. 16 The next day after the seventh Sabbath you will count fifty days; and you will offer a new grain offering to YHWH. 17 You will bring out of your habitations two loaves of bread for a wave offering made of two tenths of an ephah of fine flour. They will be baked with leaven, for first fruits to YHWH. 18 You will present with the bread seven lambs, perfect ones, a year old, one young bull, and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to YHWH, with their grain offering and their libation offerings, even an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to YHWH. 19 You will offer one male goat for a sin offering, and two male lambs a year old for a slaughter of peace offerings. 20 The priest will wave them with the bread of the first fruits for a wave offering before YHWH, with the two lambs. They will be holy to YHWH for the priest. 21 You will make proclamation on the [bone of that day] there will be a holy convocation to you. You will do no work of service. This is a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. 22 When you reap the harvest of your land, you must not finish the corner of your field. You must not gather the gleanings of your harvest. You must leave them for the afflicted and for the foreigner. I am YHWH your Elohim.’ ”
Luke 4:16-30 (P)
4:16 He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the scroll, and found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed, 19 and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” (cf. Isaiah 61:1-2) 20 He closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began to tell them, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 All witnessed about him and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” 23 He said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’ ” 24 He said, “Amen, amen, I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown. 25 But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heavens were shut up three years and six new moons, when a great famine came over all the land. 26 Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.” 28 They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue as they heard these things. 29 They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff. 30 But he, passing through the middle of them, went his way.
Matthew 11:1-6; Luke 7:1-23 (P)
Matthew 11:1 When Yeshua had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and proclaim in their cities. 2 Now when John heard in the prison the works of Messiah, he sent two of his disciples 3 and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?” 4 Yeshua answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. 6 Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”
Luke 7:1 After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum. 2 A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death. 3 When he heard about Yeshua, he sent to him Jewish elders, asking him to come and save his servant. 4 When they came to Yeshua, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.” 6 Yeshua went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof. 7 Therefore I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Yeshua heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.” 10 Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well. 11 Soon afterwards, he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him. 12 Now when he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only born son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Don’t cry.” 14 He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!” 15 He who was dead sat up and began to speak. Then he gave him to his mother. 16 Fear took hold of all, and they glorified Elohim, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “Elohim has visited his people!” 17 This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region. 18 The disciples of John told him about all these things. 19 John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Yeshua, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?” 20 When the men had come to him, they said, “John the Immerser has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’ ” 21 In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight. 22 Yeshua answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. 23 Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”

The Coming of Melchizedek 11Q13 Column 2 (P)
Col. 2 […] And concerning what Scripture says, “In [this] year of jubilee [you will return, every one of you, to your property” (Leviticus 25:13) and what is also written, “And this] is the [ma]nner of [the remission]: every creditor will remit the claim that is held [against a neighbor, not exacting it of a neighbor who is a member of the community, because Elohim’s] remission [has been proclaimed” (Deuteronomy 15:2): [the interpretation] is that it applies [to the L]ast Days and concerns the captives, just as [Isaiah said: “To proclaim the jubilee to the captives” (Isaiah 61:1)… just] as […] and from the inheritance of Melchizedek, f[or… Melchizedek, who will return them to what is rightfully theirs. Scripture also s[ays] about him, “Over [it] take your seat in the highest the heavens; A divine being will judge the peoples” (Psalms 7:7-8).
Concerning what Scripture s[ays, “How long will y]ou (plural: you-all) judge unjustly, and sh[ow] partiality to the wick[e]d? Deuteronomy 15:7 – 16:12 from the Jerusalem Targum aka Targum Pseudo-Jonathan (T)
Composed in Talmudic Israel (c.150 – c.250 AD). Targum Pseudo-Jonathan is a western targum (translation) of the Torah (Pentateuch) from the land of Israel (as opposed to the eastern Babylonian Targum Onkelos). Its correct title was originally Targum Yerushalmi (Jerusalem Targum), which is how it was known in medieval times. But because of a printer’s mistake it was later labeled Targum Jonathan, in reference to Jonathan ben Uzziel. Some editions of the Pentateuch continue to call it Targum Jonathan to this day. Most scholars refer to the text as Targum Pseudo-Jonathan. This targum is more than a mere translation. It includes much Aggadic material collected from various sources as late as the Midrash Rabbah as well as earlier material from the Talmud. It is effectively a combination of a commentary and a translation. In the portions where it is pure translation, it often agrees with the Targum Onkelos. The date of its composition is disputed. It cannot have been completed before the Arabic conquest as it refers to Mohammad’s wife Fatimah, but might have been initially composed in the 4th Century AD. However, some scholars date it in the 14th Century.
Chapter 15 At the end of seven years you shall make a Release. And this is the indication of the custom of the Release: Every man who is master of a loan, who lendeth to his neighbour, shall give remission. He shall not have power to coerce his neighbour in demanding his loan, nor of his brother, a son of Israel; because the beth din hath published the Release before the Lord. From a son of the Gentiles thou mayest exact, but the lawful right (dina) which is thine with thy brother thou shalt release with thine hand. If you will only be diligent in the precepts of the law, there will be no poor among you; for, blessing, the Lord will bless you in the land which the Lord your Elohim will give you for a possession to inherit; if, obeying, you will only obey the Word of the Lord your God, to observe and do all these commandments which I command you this day. For the Lord your Elohim blesseth you, as He saith to you (that) you shall take from many nations, but they will not take from you; and you will have power over many nations, but they shall not have power over you. But if you be not diligent in the precepts of the law, and there be among you a poor man in one of thy cities of the land which the Lord thy Elohim giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor hold back thy hand from thy poor brother; but thou shalt open thy hand to him, and lend to him according to the measure of his want through which he is in need. Beware lest there be a word in thy proud heart, saying: The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand, and your eye become evil toward your poor brother, so as to be not willing to give to him, and he cry against you to the Lord, and there be guilt upon you. Giving you shall give to him, nor shall your heart be evil when you give to him; for on account of this matter the Lord your Elohim will bless you in all your works that you put your hands unto. But forasmuch as the house of Israel will not rest in the commandments of the law, the poor will not cease in the land: therefore I command you, saying: You shall verily open your hands toward your neighbours, to the afflicted around you, and to the poor of your country. [JERUSALEM. Giving thou shalt give to him, nor let your looks be evil at the time you give to him. If Israel would keep the precepts of the law, there would be no poor among them; but if they will forsake the precepts of the law, the poor shall not cease from the land: therefore I command you, saying: You shall verily open your hands to your poor brethren, and to the needy who will be in your land.]
If your brother, a son of Israel, or if a daughter of Israel, be sold to you, he shall serve you six years; and when the seventh comes, thou shalt send him from you free. And when thou lettest him go away from thee at liberty, thou shalt not send him away empty. Comforting thou shalt comfort him out of your flocks, your floors, and your wine presses; as the Lord hath blessed you ye shall give to him. [JERUSALEM. Thou shalt furnish him.] And be mindful that you were servants in the land of Mizraim, and that the Lord your Elohim set you free; therefore I command you today that you do this thing.
But if he say to thee, I will not go out from thee, because I love thee and the men of thy house, and because it hath been good for him to be with thee, then thou shalt take an awl, and bore (or apply) it through his ear, and that to the door of the house of judgment, and he shall be thy serving servant until the Jubilee. And for thy handmaid also thou shalt write a certificate of release, and give it to her. It must not be a hardship in thy eyes when thou sendest him away from thee; for double the hire of an hireling hath he been of service to thee six years; and on his account the Lord thy Elohim hath blessed thee in all that thou hast done.
Every firstling male that cometh of thy herd and flock thou shalt consecrate before the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not work with the firstlings of your herd, nor shear the firstlings of your flocks; you shall eat thereof before the Lord your Elohim from year to year, in the place which the Lord will choose, you and the men of your houses. But if there be any spot in it, if it be lame or blind, or have any blemish, you shall not slaughter it before the Lord your God: you may eat it in your cities; he who is unclean, (so) that he may not approach to holy, and he who being clean may approach the holy, may alike (eat), as the flesh of the antelope or hart. Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out upon the ground like water.
Chapter 16 Be mindful to keep the times of the festivals, with the intercalations of the year, and to observe the rotation thereof: in the month of Abiba to perform the pascha before the Lord your God, because in the month of Abiba the Lord your Elohim brought you out of Mizraim; you shall eat it therefore by night. But you shall slaughter the pascha before the Lord your Elohim between the suns; and the sheep and the bullocks on the morrow, on that same day to rejoice in the feast at the place which the Lord will choose to make His Shekinah to dwell there. You shall not eat leavened bread with the pascha; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread unto His Name, the unleavened bread of humiliation; for with haste you went forth from the land of Mizraim; that you may remember the day of your out going from the land of Mizraim all the days of your life. Take heed that in the beginning of the pascha there be no leaven seen among you within all your borders for seven days; and that none of the flesh which you slaughter in the evening of the first day remain till the morning. It will not be allowed you to eat the pascha in (any) one of your cities which the Lord your Elohim giveth to you; but in the place which the Lord your Elohim will choose to make His Shekinah to dwell, there shall you slaughter the pascha; and in the evening at the going down of the sun you may eat it until the middle of the night, the time when you began to go out of Mizraim. And you shall dress and eat it in the place which the Lord your Elohim will choose, and in the early morn (if need be) thou mayest return from the feast, and go to thy cities. On the first day thou shalt offer the omer, and eat unleavened cakes of the old corn; but in the six remaining days you may begin to eat unleavened cakes of the new corn, and on the seventh day you shall assemble with thanksgiving before the Lord your God; no work shall you perform.
Seven weeks number to you; from the time when you begin to put the sickle to the harvest of the field after the reaping of the omer you shall begin to number the seven weeks. And you shall keep with joy the Festival of Weeks before the Lord your God, after the measure of the freewill offerings of your hands, according as the Lord your Elohim shall have blessed you. And you shall rejoice with the joy of the feast before the Lord your God, you and your sons, your daughters, your servants and handmaids, the Levites who are in your cities, and the stranger, the orphan, and the widow who are among you, at the place which the Lord your Elohim will choose where to make His Shekinah to dwell. Remember that you were servants in Mizraim; so shall you observe and perform these statutes.
